Doug Sampley

Lead Pastor

Pastor Doug Sampley was raised in a Christian home and was led to Christ at the age of 16. Soon after, he sensed God's call to full-time ministry and attended Central Bible College where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology in 1987. Pastor Sampley then went on to earn his Master of Arts in Biblical Literature in 1991 and has been ordained with the Assemblies of God since 1993. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Theological Studies.

Before coming to Marshfield Assembly of God in December of 2007, Pastor Sampley served in three other churches. From 1987 to 1990 he was youth pastor at First Assembly of God in Winfield, KS. Then he spent 4 years as the associate pastor at First Assembly of God in Topeka, KS. In 1995, Pastor Sampley became senior pastor at First Assembly of God in Bristow, OK, where he served for nearly 13 years.

He and his wife, Cheri, have been married since 1986. They have three children: Leslie, John, and Joshua along with 3 grandchildren: Jerra, Isaac and Elaina. Pastor Sampley enjoys reading, golfing, fishing, and watching his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. His passion is to see people live out what they speak out. He always has a friendly smile and a warm handshake for anyone who walks into MAG!

Fred Lawley

Pastor Emeritus

Pastor Fred Lawley is Pastor Emeritus of Marshfield Assembly of God. He was born and raised in LA (lower Alabama) in a God-fearing home. He served twenty years in the military where he rededicated his life to the Lord. After retiring from the Army, Pastor Lawley attended Central Bible College and became a minister with the Assemblies of God. He and his wife, Bonnie, soon pioneered a church in Phillipsburg, Missouri, which is still a growing and active church today.

In May of 1977, Pastor Lawley was elected as senior pastor of Marshfield Assembly of God and served in that capacity until November of 1991. When they came to Marshfield, the church was located on East Washington and moved to Commercial Street in the building that is now the puppet theater. He returned to our church as assistant pastor in 2002 and is a vital part of our ministry.

The Lawleys have five children, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. With a self-confessed soft spot for kids, Pastor Lawley can often be seen sneaking rolls of Smarties candies into the hands of lucky little ones on Sunday mornings.

Max Southern

Raised in Whiteland, IN, Pastor Max Southern has been serving as the Youth Pastor at Marshfield Assembly of God since August of 2012. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Church Leadership from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO and is currently seeking his Masters of Organizational Leadership from Evangel University, also in Springfield, MO.

Max was born in Indiana in 1991, and he remained there until he left for college in 2010. Max is the son of Tom & Sally Southern, and he has one sister, Daphne. He and his family began attending church in 1996, when they were invited by a neighbor. They were all saved and baptized in water on the same Sunday. He was very active in his home church, serving as both a kids and youth leader. Max also spent a summer interning under the entire pastoral staff at his home church in Whiteland, IN.

Always feeling the call of God upon his life, Max began his studies in Church Leadership at Central Bible College. During college, he played and ministered with the CBC basketball team to churches all over the United States and in South Africa, where he spent two weeks on a missions trip. He began volunteering in 2011 as a youth sponsor at Marshfield Assembly of God where he served faithfully until he was brought on as the youth pastor. Max is a hard worker and a faithful young man of God. His passion to see teenagers turn their hearts toward God is evident in everything that he does. He is committed to connecting with the students of PULSE Student Ministry and working towards seeing lives changed for the Kingdom of God. His love for God and his dedication make Pastor Max an incredible addition to Marshfield Assembly of God.
